Monday, January 7

Resolutions.  Such a sticky thing.  Along with the regular mumbo jumbo, I like to take advantage of the beginning of each year and focus in on long term goals.  Where do we want to be in 1 year?  5 years? 10 years??  That's a very good question to which I don't have many answers.  Thus the purpose of January 1st.  To ponder and record our long term plans.  In 5 years, we want to have two kids.  We want to be in our careers.  Dallin being a superintendent of a golf course and loving every minute of it.  Me being a stay at home mama completing her graduate work. (or if needs be, be a special education teacher completing her graduate work and mama duties.)  For some reason, nothing sounds better than cooking, cleaning, and spending tons of quality time with our little ones.  We want to own our first home.  Quaint, small, and practical.  I want our first home to be full of character.  I want our first home to be us.

I strongly believe it is important to continue to better ourselves each and every day.  At the end of each day, I look forward to kneeling at our bedside, hands intertwined, and praying with my eternal companion.  Although it doesn't happen every single night, (which is another goal of ours) it provides me with hope and excitement for what our future will bring.  We have so much to be grateful for and it is far too easy to pass over all of the sweet blessings that surround us.

In reality, we should all work a little harder to be a little better each and every day.  It's simple really.  I always refer to President Gordon B. when he gave me the sound advice to take life one day at a time.  I'm a stress ball.  A stress ball with wayyy too many lists.  Sooo... as you can imagine, I tend to get overwhelmed.  Go figure.  I have found if I take life one day at a time, I stress and worry less, and can actually enjoy my life day to day.  I can't even fathom how many glorious things I would miss if I focused on something that could happen in the next couple months that might stress me out.  I've learned the hard way, worrying is definitely not the way to happiness.  Enjoy the now, because it's really great.
